In the early 2000s the UK government was at the forefront globally developing fiscal sustainability analysis. This culminated in the production and publication of the annual Long-term public finance report, presented to Parliament by the Chancellor of the Exchequer at the time of the autumn Pre-Budget.
Launched in 2002 by HM Treasury, responsibility for the production and publication of the Long-term public finance report moved to the Office for Budget Responsibility in 2010. Its successor is still being published as the OBR Fiscal Risks and Sustainability Report.
